I am interested in symmetry and mandalas with their perfect structure and a proper state of harmony and balance. Pattern is a universal frequency we respond to that represents order and perfection. There is a sense of wholeness and oneness. Creating motifs eventually combining them to create a mandala-like structure that combines human features and the natural world around us. Reviving and showing off nature at its best, but my beliefs reveal a cynical view of beauty in life.

Accentuating patterns is a reference to how man is manipulating the world around us.

Patterns in nature are naturally recurring. The same patterns turn up time and again; microscopic cell structure and butterfly wings and field boundaries; leaf veins and water courses and tributaries.

But patterns in nature occur organically.

We cannot replicate nature, we simply cannot do random as well as nature does.

‘Man-made’ represents everything that is corrupt and bad in the world.

We strive for perfection, precision and to sanitize and control everything we lay our hands on, exploiting the natural world for profit at the expense of everything we know.

So I refer to these hands in my work.

Using perfect symmetry in my work reflects the unnatural influences we impose upon nature.

Leaving nature alone is the only path.
